I’ve recently needed a second infrastructure, but I don’t like it when it’s easy. So I’ve decided to setup a Windows Server 2012 and use the latest IBM EM v9. Below is the step-by-step screen shots of this the IEM installation. I won’t be describing every screen… only those which are decision points that required additional considerations.
This will be an all-in-one server… which means the root server as well as web reports will be installed onto the same server. However I will be using MSSQL 2012 on a separate database server.
This will be a separate and independent infrastructure… so Single or Master Database is the selection here.
I will be using an external MSSQL server… so that is specified here.
And the details for connecting to that MSSQL server is specified here.
I don’t want to change any of these details… defaults here is fine considering how small my infrastructure is (5-20 endpoints). If your infrastructure is significantly larger… than consider deviating from these defaults.
I do need to specify the first user account. Later in the infrastructure setup, I will be linking to an LDAP server.. but I still require a user to get that setup.
Pulling up the full interface will tell me what I already know… MSSQL is not installed on the local server nor is the BES Client.
The infrastructure is installed at this point, but I will want to reconfigure services and settings. Look for a future article which will cover this.
