BES Relay / BES Server Setting: Download Cache Size
Log In or Register to download the BES file, and more.

1 Votes

The BES Relays and BES Server will cache downloaded files on the local computer so that the file will not need to be downloaded again if the action is reissued.

This setting will specify how many MB to cache before overwriting the old files. When the cache is full, the least recently used files will be replaced. The default cache size is 1024 MB.

Note: The BES Server / BES Relay can theoretically take up to 2x the cache size because files for specific actions are stored separately from the general download cache and each set of files can take up to the maximum cache size.

Note: Do not set the "Reapply" behavior when taking this action or you may cause the BES Client to constantly reset this setting.

The size won't grow right away. Since each item is only cached once, it is possible that it just hasn't grown that much. Also, I would recommend having either your Root or all of your Top level relays have a very large cache. 300gb or more. 2tb or more would not be a bad idea and it doesn't need to be on the fastest disks.

I have changed this setting to 10240 (10Gb) on my BESServer, and am currently running through a heavy baseline with many patches. I see the following.. [root@ciemsrv1 bfmirror]# pwd /var/opt/BESServer/wwwrootbes/bfmirror [root@ciemsrv1 bfmirror]# du -skh * 3.2G bfsites 968M downloads Should my downloads directory not be in the 10Gb range now, as oppose to 1Gb range?
