Windows 7 Migration Assessment Tool

To get started...

• On the BigFix Labs Management dashboard in your console, scroll down to the "Sites" section and activate the "Windows 7 Migration Assessment" site. This site will contain the charts and graphs which our new scanner will feed into.
• Activate the two Analyses which come with this new site... "Windows 7 Application Compatibility" and "Windows 7 Hardware Compatibility"
• Download my new version of the scanner and upload tasks. You must be logged in to use this feature... Registration is free!
• Import the new scanner task you just downloaded and launch, targeting all endpoints.
• Browse the "Windows 7 Compatibility Dashboard" from the "Windows 7 Migration" site to view your assessment.

The scanner will download the very latest copy of my compatibility database and evaluate your endpoints for compliance. The data will then be pulled back by the two analyses you activated and displayed on the dashboard that came with the "Windows 7 Migration" site.

If you were to adjust the relevance on my scanner task (delete the first relevance item). You could target Windows 7 endpoints and generate a list of compatible apps; then use the upload task to pull the Unknown.csv files to the server. After that visit the import page and import the "Unknown.csv" file my scanner generates. (You can find this csv file under the BES Client\Win7AppCompat directory on each endpoint). This will update my compatibility database and allow you to detect even more Windows 7 compatible applications.
